We've all been getting a little caught up in the Silksong hype recently, but we thought it best to remind you that Bloober Team's Cronos: The New Dawn is out now on the Switch 2.
To mark the occasion, a new launch trailer specifically for the Switch 2 has been released, and yeah, it's cool. We get a good look at some combat, traversal mechanics, and some of the funky character that you, as protagonist 'The Traveler', will encounter on your journey.
We've been playing Cronos over the last couple of days or so and we'll have a review ready for you very soon, but early impressions point to a solid experience on Switch 2; it looks great, performs well, and the gameplay is a wonderful blend of Resident Evil and Dead Space, with a little bit of Metroid and Returnal thrown in for good measure.
Oh, and cute cats bring you useful goodies. Winner.
Here's a reminder of the game's synopsis:
"From the acclaimed developers of the SILENT HILL 2 remake, Bloober Team presents Cronos: The New Dawn — a third-person survival horror experience like no other. Set in the haunting ruins of New Dawn, a world inspired by Nowa Huta, a real historical district in Kraków, Poland, the game unfolds across two timelines: a post-apocalyptic future decaying in despair, and the gritty, industrial 1980s reality. This powerful duality blends retro realism, dystopian sci-fi, and a retro-futuristic atmosphere to create a deeply immersive world filled with tension, mystery, and terror."

Nice that this got a launch trailer specifically for Switch 2 - yep, keeps on looking cool and hope it will be just as good for those interested in it (not me included considering its genre, but still)!
I'm tempted to buy it already but the gameplay seems a bit repetitive and the environment seems too samey fromn what I've seen.
The front of that helmet design sure is a choice.
I have it downloaded. Just gotta get home from work
I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Life review. 😊
So resi evil + dead space….interesting.
Makes me want to play dead space. The only game I almost actually platinum’d (just need to finish my 4th play through, but trophies don’t do anything for me so I never finished). If this reviews like really really good I’ll play it. If not I’ll finally get the dead space remake for ps5
I am super stoked for this game. Super NOT stoked that it's a game key card, but still stoked enough to buy it physical without complaint. Just gotta wait until I can justify it with my budget.
Buy buy buy. My replay of the BioShock Trilogy is on hold for this puppy!!
this game was released with such little fanfare, which is a shame for what seems like Switch2's first major horror title
Haven't played anything like this for awhile. The Polish setting, time traversal mechanics and cat rescuing make it very appealing so I'll likely get it down the line.
My most anticipated game this month. It looks so good and has gotten a lot of good reviews. Bloober Team has been on fire lately.
Played it for 2 hours already and it's really good, great job on the Switch 2 version by Bloober as well!
It's excellent to hear that this is a good experience on Switch 2. I would like to support it, but I'm worried it will scare me too much, and I'll regret it.
I’m up for a survival horror game going into Fall, and this seems to be the only big option on Switch 2. I’ll hold out for the review here though.
Looking forward to NL's review of this one ✌️🙏
Metal Gear Solid Delta got in the way, will play eventually
I can highly recommend the game it’s phenomenal just not on switch 2.
Get it on ps5/xbox and play it at 60fps it needs it for the fast action scenes and lighting. From what I’ve seen of the switch version it’s very janky with stutters and frame drops. Not the one.
Shame the reviews for it on PC aren't the best. Average apparently.
I still hold hope.
Worst thing is no physical for S2. That just kills it for me sadly
@H3X3NH4MM3R shame those more performant versions don't have gyro like the NS2 one has.
Shame there's no difficulty options and the game is made to be souls-like in terms of difficulty. When will devs learn more people will buy their games if they just add difficulty options.
